Position Overview

The Daily Signal Institute’s prestigious, yearlong journalism fellowship is designed to provide recent graduates with an opportunity to hone their skills while serving as important contributors to our team.

  • Fellows receive a generous stipend, mentorship from seasoned journalists, and access to professional resources and training workshops.
  • The program encourages innovative storytelling across various media platforms, emphasizing the importance of journalistic integrity.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to work independently on projects that address critical policy issues and make meaningful contributions.

Job Duties

  • Research, report, and produce original stories with a focus on Capitol Hill and the White House. 
  • Interview newsmakers for written stories, podcasts, and videos. 
  • Clip and produce news videos for social media. 
  • Draft and schedule social media posts. 
  • Write scripts for, appear in, produce, edit, and film short social media videos. 
  • Create thumbnails and other social media graphics. 
  • Edit, review, and refine content, including articles, videos, and podcast scripts. 
  • Help develop innovative approaches to storytelling and audience engagement. 
  • Contribute to special projects and investigative reporting efforts. 
  • Participate in editorial planning meetings and pitch original story ideas. 
  • Represent The Daily Signal at appropriate media conferences and functions. 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: Past journalism and/or college news reporting or video experience preferred
  • Communication: Excellent editing and writing skills
  • Technology: Microsoft Suite, WordPress, Adobe Suite

  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize them, and deliver first-rate work. 
  • Able to think creatively and innovatively and use data to inform strategy. 
  • Superb organizational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.

  • Fact-check content for accuracy and verify sources. 

Benefits and Salary

The salary for this role is $50,000 annually. As a temporary position, this role is eligible for some of The Daily Signal Institute’s benefits package, including “take what you need” PTO and sick leave.
