Just hours after Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber apologized for “off the cuff” remarks disparaging the intelligence of American voters, another video surfaced of the former White House adviser calling the American people “stupid.”
Fox News host Megyn Kelly last night screened the clip of Gruber speaking at an Oct. 4, 2013, event at Washington University in St. Louis. In it, Gruber discusses the design of the “Cadillac Tax,” a 40 percent tax set to begin in 2018, and brags about the plan to penalize health insurance companies instead of policyholders.
“[Senate Democrats] proposed it and that passed, because the American people are too stupid to understand the difference,” Gruber, an economics professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, tells his audience.
Official logs show Gruber visited the White House more than a dozen times during his work on President Obama’s signature health care law. He received roughly $400,000 in taxpayer dollars for his assistance in crafting the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare.
