The liberal media and President Obama tout Abraham Lincoln as an icon for their progressive agenda, but Rich Lowry, editor of National Review, believes otherwise.
Lowry sat down with Heritage to talk about his new book, Lincoln Unbound, and explained why he thinks Lincoln’s life exemplifies conservative principles.
“If you just take what he believed and what he said and translate it to today, he’s much more a [conservative],” Lowry said.
Lincoln’s work ethic and individual discipline are lessons vital to the American people at a time when the country is “experiencing a crisis of opportunity,” Lowry said. The book frames Lincoln as “the foremost apostle of opportunity in American history.”
