A pro-life organization has planned “Schedule Your Mammogram Day” on Sept. 21, a national campaign to have participants call Planned Parenthood to schedule a mammogram, a service it does not provide.
FactCheck.org has verified that “Planned Parenthood health centers do not offer mammography,” but supporters of the organization often claim that women will lose access to mammograms if Planned Parenthood is defunded.
In an interview with The Daily Signal, Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director and the founder and president of And Then There Were None, a ministry to help abortion workers leave the industry, said that simply isn’t the case.

“Having worked at a Planned Parenthood, I knew that there are no Planned Parenthoods licensed to have mammogram machines,” Johnson said. “They can provide a referral for a mammogram, but any health provider can refer a woman for a mammogram.”
Planned Parenthood, Johnson said, is a level-one breast cancer service center, which means that they cannot provide treatment or diagnostic services. They can only provide a manual breast exam.
“We know they won’t do mammograms, but they won’t come out and make a statement. They perpetuate this lie by their silence.”
Johnson said that when Miss Tennessee recently declared that defunding Planned Parenthood would cause women to lose access to mammograms, she decided to organize the campaign.
“We know the truth already, but we’re hoping that by having people call, that it will force them to finally make a statement,” Johnson said.
Johnson added that she encourages those who participate in the campaign to tell the Planned Parenthood employee to visit AbortionWorker.com, where they will find people who can help them leave the abortion industry.
