The City of Angels received an unexpected wake-up call at 6:25 a.m. when a 4.4 earthquake shook the ground all over the county.
KTLA news anchor Chris Schauble, on camera at the time, reacted quickly. He dove under the news room desk after exclaiming, “Earthquake. We’re having an earthquake!”
Twitter users all over Southern California exploded with commentary on the quaking event, with quips such as, “Dozens of lattes spilled as minor earthquake hits LA #earthquake”
Heritage’s James Carafano cautioned Americans in 2011 after the East Coast earthquake that it’s not just Californians who should be prepared, warning, “While earthquakes are usually considered a West Coast problem (particularly in California and Alaska), they in fact pose a moderate to high risk to the majority of U.S. states.”
