Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) blasted President Obama for “waving the white flag of surrender” by promoting policies that are damaging to the economy, including raising the minimum wage.
“The President and the White House seem to be waving the white flag of surrender,” Jindal said Monday outside of the White House after a National Governors Association event. “The Obama economy is now the minimum wage economy.”
Jindal noted that the minimum wage increase, Obamacare, and the Democrats’ opposition to the Keystone pipeline, are currently some of the greatest barriers to economic growth and are factors contributing to the declining labor force participation rate.
“We shouldn’t accept a two-to-three percent economic growth,” Jindal said, “We shouldn’t accept a labor force participation rate that is the lowest that it has been in thirty-six years.”
“I think we can do better than that. I think America can do better than that,” he continued.
During the news conference, Gov. Dan Malloy (D-CT) criticized Jindal’s comments on the minimum wage as “the most partisan statement that we’ve had all weekend” and “the most insane statement I’ve ever heard.”
Nevertheless, Jindal doubled down on his criticism on Special Report with Bret Baier, saying that Obama “is proposing policies that would actually destroy jobs.”
“If he’s serious about growing the economy, why not approve the Keystone pipeline? Why not produce more oil and gas on federal lands?” Jindal questioned.
Slamming Obama’s use of executive orders on policies that are contributing to a “stagnating economy,” Jindal noted: “We don’t have kings in this country.”
