Soon-to-be Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina tells The Daily Signal that not only will she push for a simpler tax code but she thinks it’s time for the American people to give a thumbs up or a thumbs down to government regulations.
“You can’t have a regulatory thicket that has been growing for 40 years,” Fiorina says in the one-on-one interview. “Can you ever remember a single ‘reg’ ever being appealed? None of them have been so it’s just been growing and growing and growing. So we need to hack through all of that.
“People think I’m joking but maybe we ought to put every one of those regulations out on the Internet. It’s pretty easy to do actually and ask the American people to vote on them. Five stars will keep you. One star you’re gone. Wouldn’t that put interesting pressure on the political process?’”
Her bottom line on the tax code? “Simple, simple, simple. … You can’t have a 26,000-page tax code.”
