How Rand Paul ‘Tricks’ His Wife Into Letting Him Run for Office

One of Rand Paul’s biggest attributes on the campaign trail will be his wife, Kelley Paul.

She’s well spoken, classy and has more of a softer side that should play well in places likes Iowa and South Carolina.

The Daily Signal spoke to both Kelley and Rand Paul at their home in Bowling Green two years ago.

Even then, the rumors of Rand running for president of the United States were swirling around. During the conversation, Rand calls himself, “a perpetual optimist” and Kelley admits that, “He’s bolder than I am in terms of the things he wants to do … He lives life very boldly and it’s been exciting being married to someone like that.”

Kelley tells a story about how Rand told her at the outset of his run for the Senate in 2010 that he only had a ten percent chance of winning. So she shouldn’t be too concerned about him actual winning. But Kelley admits, “I knew that he would win … I knew that once people started hearing his message in the way that he could deliver it that it would resonate, that it would get traction.”

Now we’re about to find out if that’s going to happen again on a much larger stage.
