“Hating Breitbart” in Theaters Friday; Director Speaks at Bloggers Briefing

Andrew Marcus, director of the new film “Hating Breitbart” will visit The Heritage Foundation on Tuesday to speak at The Bloggers Briefing. Watch it live at noon ET on Heritage’s Livestream channel.
“Hating Breitbart” opens in select theaters this Friday. It tells the story of the late Andrew Breitbart — “one man with a website who forever changed the media paradigm, unending the traditional press and changing the ground rules of political journalism,” according to the film’s official website. Breitbart died in March at the age of 43.
In a recent interview, Marcus told Fox News that Breitbart “was a man who taught a movement how to stand up for itself and how to fight back.” In the same interview, Breitbart News Network CEO Larry Solov described Breitbart as a “pioneer of new media,” who “helped give a voice to a number of people who had been shut out for years, in particular on the conservative side.”
Breitbart inspired many people currently active in the conservative movement. Lisa De Pasquale writes in a new column that she herself was inspired “after talking with Andrew Breitbart about the importance of conservatives engaging in the pop culture discussion.” Thanks to “Haiting Breitbart”, De Pasquale writes, “we are reminded of who he was, who our political enemies are and why we need to continue to expose them. As long as we follow his lead, Breitbart is here.”
Two other speakers are also on tap for today’s Bloggers Briefing:
• Peter Vessenes of American Citizens for Economic Freedom will discuss his timely and relevant book, “The Golden Rules of Economics: The Real Way Out of America’s Economic Crisis.” Vessenes, who is a business adviser, writer and financial software developer, wrote the book to explain the real reasons the U.S. economy is facing a breaking point.
• John Gable, founder and CEO of AllSides, joins us to talk about how his website uses crowd-sourced technology and statistical research to give readers a different presentation of the news. Gable launched AllSides prior to the political conventions this summer.
The Bloggers Briefing was founded in May 2006 as a weekly policy discussion for conservative bloggers and journalists. Follow the action on Livestream or ask a question on Twitter using hashtag #BloggersBriefing.
