Jay Leno on Obama and the Oil Spill
Conn Carroll /
The Los Angeles Times reports: “Obama urges new efforts to reduce U.S. dependence on oil, citing the ‘tragedy unfolding’ in the Gulf of Mexico.”
The Washington Post reports: “The Oval Office address was Obama’s most pointed attempt since the spill began to explain how the crisis should be leveraged on behalf of long-term reform.”
The New York Times reports: “President Obama challenged the country last night to unify behind a “national mission” to reduce its reliance on oil and coal, using his first Oval Office address to pressure Congress into acting quickly on clean energy legislation.”
Jay Leno has a more common sense approach. At the beginning of The Tonight Show last night he quipped: “President Obama said today he is going to use the gulf disaster to immediately push a new energy bill through Congress. I got an idea … How about first using the Gulf disaster to fix the Gulf disaster.”
We couldn’t clip just that joke, but it is only the second one into the video. So if you want, please do enjoy the rest of his monologue.
