Gov. John Kasich tells The Daily Signal that he’d like to see the Export-Import Bank shut down.
“There’s been corruption in the bank. If they can dramatically restructure it, that would be OK with me but I’d rather at this point get rid of it,” the Ohio Republican said in an interview Friday at the Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington, D.C.
The Export-Import Bank’s charter expires on June 30. With no congressional action likely in the next two weeks, it won’t be reauthorized. The bank has come under attack because it’s seen as a form of cronyism and corporate welfare.
