Now that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has officially thrown his hat into the ring as a Republican candidate for president in 2016, he is rolling out his policy proposals.

In an interview at his West Palm Beach, Fla., home last November, Carson said entitlement programs don’t need to be touched until the economy is back on the right track.

He believes that won’t be as hard as some people think.

“I don’t think we should even talk about entitlements until we fix the economy and I think fixing the economy is not going to be that difficult.”

Carson’s plan?

He’d like to see the corporate tax rate at 25 percent or less which he believes will lead to a successful business climate.

He also believes that some tax regulations make sense as they are, but he wants to close some tax loopholes.

Overall, he’s for a proportional tax system which he likens to the biblical concept of tithing.

“Tithing was a system that was established by God. I don’t know anybody who’s fairer than God. You make one dollar, you pay ten cents. You make one million dollars you pay one hundred thousand dollars. Why is that hard to understand?”
