Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is taking a different approach four years after running for president.
During a one-on-one interview with The Daily Signal in Iowa last weekend, Perry says he came in too overconfident back in 2012.
“I was a little arrogant thinking that having been the governor of Texas for 12 years that was all the preparation you needed to be on the stage talking about the issues at hand,” Perry said.
He also explains how he’s been beefing up on economic and monetary policy issues.
“Those take years to develop a very good handle on and I hadn’t done that. I’ve spent the last three years in deep preparation so I feel very confident.”
When he ran for president in 2012, Perry began his campaign just six weeks after major back surgery.
