The “Gosnell” movie producers reached their goal today of raising $2.1 million for the film, which will expose abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s crimes against women and children.

“Gosnell” producer Magdalena Segieda said in a statement that the movie would ensure Gosnell would remain notorious, commenting that “because of this crowdfunding campaign Kermit Gosnell’s name will now be as well known as Jodi Arias and Ted Bundy.”

“That is fitting,” Segieda added, “because Kermit Gosnell killed more than all the other serial killers combined. His story and the stories of his victims will now be told.”

The crowdfunding campaign sparked its share of controversy. Producers pulled the film from Kickstarter when that site objected to a description of Gosnell’s crimes. They chose Indiegogo instead, making the media’s lack of coverage a centerpiece of the campaign.

Sarah Torre, a policy analyst at The Heritage Foundation, said Gosnell’s actions, such as “the gruesome murder of newborn infants and his willful disregard for the dignity and health of women should be the stuff of headlines.”

Gosnell was convicted on three counts of murder last May. He is suspected of carrying out thousands of abortions over 40 years.

“Americans deserve to know what happened in Philadelphia and how government officials failed to protect women and children from Gosnell,” Torre added. “We applaud Ann, Phelim, and Magdalena on their efforts to tell the story the media refused to cover.”

According to the producers, more than 23,000 people donated to the film project.
