California and New Jersey passed "temporary" tax hikes during their latest legislative sessions. The rates under these hikes are included in the calculation in the table above. If these temporary rates actually expire, California's rate would fall to 56.58% and New Jersey's to 55.46%.

Are you kidding me, Obama is trying to kill us. No more jobs, no more growth. Tax, tax, tax. I think he has to be working for a foreign govt. against us. I don't have a college ed. I could do a better job! My 3 year old could do a better job! When is the sane people in congress going to wake up. He already has his new govt. in place. Take over the rest of the economy, we're done! What will he need congress for. How stupid are they?
