Violation of the separation of powers as directed in the Constitution and as written in the founders papers and/or federalist papers. Judges are not to make policy or laws. This is a legislative responsibility in our Constitutional Republic.
The Supreme Court justices need to only hear and judge the constitutionality of cases before them. Only cases that rise to a constitutional issue should be heard by Supreme Court. Defer all other cases back to the lower courts and/or the legislative bodies.
Any judge who believes in international law and/or interpretation should NOT be selected to the Supreme Court. Obviously, they do not understand the Constitution and/or they want full control under an oligarchy for the sake of power.
Those who go to the Supreme Court should only be Constitutionalists and want to preserve this Representative Republic.
Unbelievable, this woman needs many more years of experience on the bench before she is given a Supreme Court position.
How can she even be considered ?
populist amateur; would fit well in DC these days but would be over her head within 5 minutes when teamed with the other Supremes, (well maybe not Breyer) …. sad to say this probably bodes well for her getting the nod …
This slip revealing her true socialist ideology is akin to the slip by Maxine Waters when she told the Oil Company executives in a committee hearing on high oil prices that the government can socialize their industry but then started to back peddle when she realized what she had just said.
Let us face it. We will have more socialists on the bench shredding the Constitution further to a meaningless document as a result of the crowd that was elected in the last two elections.
A memorial service to freedom will be more appropriate as a July 4th celebration, starting this year.
jeff sessions ,please save us
Well here it is: right is wrong and wrong
is right… This is the legacy of a nation
founded under God that has turned against
Him. Any idiot who ever read the Bible can
see the history of such recklessness, and
the resultant destruction! So – if God was
the author of all the blessings leading up
to the "most powerful nation in the world"
becoming what we once were, then He can just as easily remove us from that status.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to
conclude the obvious… Who else could
possibly save the USA??
"Jeff Sessions, please save us."
Jeff Sessions is quoted in The Washington Post as characterizing Obama, who's already on the schmooz path with him regarding his pending nominee, as "so nice". The article also reports that Sessions has "shied away from some of the filibuster talk coming from conservative activists". I don't know what to make of this, but it sounds concerning to me knowing that Obama will choose a total activist judge. Time shall tell I guess.
Judges weigh arguments. Appellant judges weigh arguments with the Constitution. Supreme Cout Justices only Protect the Constitution and the Individuals Civil Rights.
Well! With people like her in line, I would guess that a retired carpenter, such as myself, has a pretty good shot at becoming an associate justice of SOTUS. Unless this counts as a published solicitation.
Disclosure: I have read the Federalist papers and the Constitution. Does that disqualify me?
John Marshall really screwed everything up , didn't he. Thinking that the SOTUS had certain, as yet, undefined powers and creating precedent.
She admits, and from the laughter, the audience also admits, that the appellate courts are making law not enforcing it. What is the procedure to impeach a judge?.
Let's stop whining, and start defending the greatest document ever devised by governments–our constitution. We need to win elections at the primary level first; then general. this is the only way we will ever get all three branches "checking" each other, rather than usurping, or being usurped.
If the Executive Branch continues to assume Legislature power and if Sotomeyer is correct and the courts are making law, where does that leave Congress?
Where does this garbage come from , what a sad state of affairs this country is in, GOD HELP US , AND YES said GOD.
The root of the problem is that we have departed from the moral and spiritual guidebook that imparted wisdom to our founding fathers. It is hard to ask judges to step up and make just decisions when they have no guidelines but their own emotions and humanistic consciences!
The Constitution means nothing to these people. Judges are only supposed to apply the laws as they apply under our Constitution. They have gotten into making laws, and use world laws as their basis. I think we need to have people with the knowledge of the Constitution as it is written.
RICHARD IN SPRING TEXAS SAYS WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE THE LEGISLATURE, I AM MORE CONCERNED WHERE DOES IT LEAVE OUR ELECTORATE,WHOM THESE IDIOTS ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT……………..NO NO TO SOTO SHOULD BE OUR NEW MOTTO……………….
As far as I'm concerned the Constitution is "the tie that binds" & I'm not the only one that believes this. The Constitution means freedom & the continual assault on it will only lead to slaverly. Empathy is fine for psychologists & psychiatrists, not Supreme Court Justices. It's RULE OF LAW, not "Were you having a bad day when you killed someone?". Regardless of the Democratic numbers, Republicans should still find a way to be heard & stand up for principles not "demographics". "Remember the Alamo!"
