Obamacare Hurts America: The Story of Paul’s Supermarket and College Hunks Hauling Junk

Steven Herman, vice president of Paul’s Supermarket, and Stephen Bienko, owner of College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving, want to take care of their employees. But will they be able to under Obamacare?
Last month, both men appeared on Capitol Hill to testify about the damaging effects Obamacare will have on small businesses. They shared their concerns with Sean Hannity on Fox News last week.
“Their economists and the people up there, you know, on the Hill that model these things, they don’t come down to where the real things happen,” Herman told Hannity.
Herman and Bienko believe that Obamacare’s regulations and requirements will hurt their businesses, but more importantly, the employees who work there. That will have a trickle-down effect on the community.
When asked how he’d grapple with Obamacare, Herman said Paul’s Supermarkets would soldier on, even if it meant cuting back on other expenses, such as donations to local charities. “We’re a family business, so we’re going to take care of people that have been with us and worked hard for us,” he said.
Beinko warned that Obamacare might destroy his new company:
I truly believe in the American dream. I believe in the prosperity and the opportunity that’s presented to us and our obligation as citizens to help people establish that. And I’m now trying to do that as a business owner, as an entrepreneur.
As only open three years and having a mandate placed on us during our biggest growth period — this is when we are trying to hire the most people, have them help us and grow, and most importantly, bring them on culturally into our culture, it’s destroying that.
Throughout the segment, Hannity featured state-by-state data on insurance premium increases under Obamacare. Those numbers were based on Heritage’s new research on the high cost of Obamacare.
