VIDEO: Ted Cruz on His Epic 21-Hour Defund Obamacare Speech

What motivated Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to spend 21 hours on the Senate floor without food, much water, or a bathroom? He did it to save America from Obamacare, not to make a name for himself.

Cruz spoke to Fox News’ Sean Hannity last night about his quest to defund Obamacare. He said he’ll continue to fight against the unpopular law because he’s doing what the people of Texas elected him to do.

Following his marathon filibuster, Cruz said constituents are energized. It even prompted President Obama to lash out and attack critics of the law.

“I’m glad to see that the American people speaking up as they have in overwhelming numbers is getting the president’s attention, and I think those comments suggests that he is worried,” Cruz said in response to Obama’s criticism.

With the clock ticking closer to the government takeover of health care on October 1, Cruz said it was more important than ever to defund the unfair, unaffordable and unworkable law.

“We have over 1.8 million people who have signed the national petition on dontfundit.com who are lighting up the phones,” Cruz said. “The phones are melting down in the U.S. Senate, they’re getting on Facebook, getting on Twitter and asking senators vote no on cloture, don’t stand with Harry Reid don’t give Harry Reid the power to fund Obamacare.”

He added, “If they are going to exempt big business and Congress, then they should exempt every American.”
