In Chrysler’s Super Bowl ad for the Chrysler 200, Bob Dylan says: “Let Germany brew your beer. Let Switzerland make your watch. Let Asia assemble your phone. We will build your car.”

The ad didn’t mention that Chrysler is a wholly owned subsidiary of Italy’s Fiat.

The United States is the most prosperous nation in history because Americans have the freedom to buy beer regardless of whether it’s made in Missouri or Germany, to buy a smartphone designed in California and assembled in Asia, and to buy a Chevrolet Impala assembled by Canadian autoworkers for General Motors, a Fiesta assembled by Mexican autoworkers employed by Ford, or even a Chrysler 200 assembled in the U.S. by autoworkers employed by Fiat.
