Anyone who dares to suggest there is any unsettled science related to global warming is quickly ridiculed by the establishment media, but as Debra Saunders documented yesterday environmentalists are far worse when it comes to ignoring science when making public policy decisions.

Saunders notes that last week the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission concluded that proposed giant turbines placed under the Golden Gate Bridge would generate power from the bay’s tidal flow at a cost of 80 cents to $1.40 per kilowatt hour. San Francisco’s utility, Pacific Gas and Electric currently charges 12 cents per hour.

Faced with these facts, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom told reporters: “I don’t care about the arguments against it. I care about the arguments for it. It’s a question of subjectivity. If you’re opposed to (the idea of tidal power) or want to oppose it, you’re going to find reasons not to do it. If you’re for it and you believe it’s something that should be done and can be done, then you’re going to find a way to make it happen.”

So remember the next time an environmentalist is haranguing you about ‘the science’ of global warming, remember, as Mayor Newsom tells us, it’s all just a question of subjectivity.
